A chant will be recited by characters in different iterations of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, most notably beginning with theYu-Gi-Oh! 5D’sanime, as a powerful monster is summoned by them. While the majority of chants are unique or almost unique across individual monsters, a select series of cards, such as the Dark Synchro Monsters, are revealed to employ roughly similar chants (sometimes with the name of the monster being the only difference), indicating that they are not unique. When Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s English dub premiered, the main characters’ chants during Synchro Summoning were replaced with catchphrases like as “Let’s rev it up!” with a few chants appearing in certain episodes throughout the first season of the English dub.
The chants for each individual character tend to have a common subject that represents the nature of the figure in question.
Not that the translations should be eliminated, but rather that the characters/romanizations should be made available to those who desire them instead of removing them altogether.
I would appreciate it if you could replicate their versions of some of the chants as separate instances for individuals who prefer them to the fan-translated ones.

Papa V is about to tell you a story, so gather your friends and family around you! In order to comprehend the way Ra operates in the play, we must first discuss a few crucial aspects of the heavenly monsters themselves. We are widely aware that Pegasus modeled the Duel Monster cards on stone tablets he discovered in ancient Egypt when he made them. With no knowledge that he was doing so, Pegasus reverse-engineered the ritual fights that magicians and monarchs used to resolve their problems, and transformed them into the game of cards.
- Slifer (also known as Osiris in the Japanese edition), Ra, and the Obelisk were LITERAL Egyptian gods who were driven into the world by individuals who were attempting to manufacture playing cards based on their likenesses.
- Needless to say, everyone who was involved in the design of the cards was either injured or murdered in the process.
- Pegasus regretted producing the cards, but couldn’t rip them up and destroy them, as some people couldn’t comprehend this.
- By destroying them, you would be committing an act of desecration against a genuine deity, and you would run the danger of incurring the wrath of the gods.
- The cards are acting on their own accord.
- As a result, let’s discuss about the most powerful god card (at least according to the anime), the Winged Dragon of Ra.
- You should keep in mind that when a phony card was summoned, the spirit of the genuine Ra resided in the original card that had been placed into Maryk, and it was enraged that it had been summoned.
Another vessel was being used to force it onto the field, which was viewed as disrespectful.
Odion and Joey made it out alive, but the same cannot be said for the others who attempted to use a forged Ra card in the past.
In fact, I believe the program was trying to teach people that using fictitious cards is not acceptable XD).
May Valentine was successful in summoning the winged dragon of Ra, and she was not injured as a result of her efforts.
Ra intended to see if she was worthy of controlling its power by making her recite the ancient chant printed on the card, which he wanted her to do.
This means that only those who have proven themselves worthy will be able to wield the power of a deity.
Even though Maryk had already played Ra twice during the same duel and had not needed to say the chant up until this point, Ra appeared in the sealed sphere mode when Maryk summoned the winged dragon of Ra for the final time before the game ended, despite the fact that he had already played Ra twice during the same duel and had not required the chant up until this point.
- As a result of this epiphany, I recognized that reading the chant is not only important in order to establish your worthiness to wield the strongest god card, but it is also a means to demonstrate your reverence for the god.
- Yami Bakura was in command during the combat, and his aura did not resemble that of a common mortal.
- Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that the spirit of Maryk’s good side was also present inside Bakura.
- We should point out for those who are unaware that the chants heard on both sides are radically different in tone and quality.
- To free Ra from his Sphere state, Maryk shouts the entire phrase “Great beast of the sky, please hear my call” in the dub, however the sub version is a mumbled mess of syllables that no one can make out or comprehend.
- So, when Maryk utilizes his point-to-point transfer ability and instant attack, he mumbles part of an old mantra since the impact is concealed inside it, in the subversion he mumbles part of the ancient chant.
- The excellent Maryk was aware of how to interpret the chant, but he was clearly not as sharp as he should have been to recognize the hidden effects contained within it.
While he was imprisoned in the subconscious of his good counterpart, Yami Maryk had all of the time he needed to figure out the consequences of the chant he was performing.
Information that isn’t mandatory: Industrial illusions produced a new duplicate of the winged dragon of ra in Yu-Gi-Oh!GX because after Atem left to the afterlife, he took the original god cards with him, and they were destroyed.
Despite the fact that the card was completely unique, it acted as a fresh vehicle for the soul of the Winged Dragon of Ra.
He was successful in creating the “Mound of the Bound Creator,” which is the only card capable of binding an Egyptian God against his will.
Additionally, Franz was able to employ all of Ra’s skills without chanting any of the anchient texts.
Franz was defeated by Jaden later in the same combat, after he summoned the winged dragon of Ra to his field.
The fact that Jaden was the reincarnation of the ultimate monarch or that Ra desired revenge on Franz did not matter to Ra, who enabled Jaden to harness its power without the need to recite an old incantation.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode Guide
The Winged Dragon of Ra, in the form of a golden sphere, flies over the dueling platform, guarding the arena. Because she has taken his Egyptian God card, Marik challenges Mai, asking why she hasn’t tried to use it against him now that she has stolen his Egyptian God card. (Malik is unable to communicate in Japanese.) Mai can only stare at it, wondering aloud whether it is the Winged Dragon of Ra he is looking at. The group stands on the sidelines, their mouths open, wondering what that monster is.
- Marik claims that only he is capable of controlling Ra, but Kaiba believes that he will soon learn how to harness the irresistible power.
- What makes you think theWinged Dragon is merely a spherical ball?
- He understands that this is the true God.
- (What exactly is the problem?) Marik reminds Mai that they are participating in a Shadow Duel.
- Joey asserts that they must not let Marik to win, but Kaiba simply smiles, excited to witness the God card in action.
- As Yugi and Jounouchi put it, “Is that the actual Ra?” Kaiba believes he was aware of it!
- Mai claims that he is only envious because she intends to use his God card to defeat him.
A card is the property of the person who owns it.) As a result, he advises her to attempt reading the words printed on the bottom of the card—an old incantation that was once used to summon the secret forces of Ra—on her own.
When she asks about the card, Japanese Malik merely advises her to have a look at it.
Is this another of Marik’s mind games, as she has no recollection of seeing them when she originally played it?
(According to the Japanese Malik, this is the only method to awaken Ra’s true power.) Yugi is well aware that if Marik recites the incantation, the dragon will submit to his command.
Mokuba inquires of Kaiba as to what he believes the card says, and Kaiba responds by instructing him to photograph the card using their satellite network and then translate it using the onboard network.
The card, Marik explains to Mai, may be stared at endlessly and she will never be able to understand it.
His family is responsible for guarding the Pharaoh’s tomb so that they can read it.
( Malik, who is Japanese, claims that it is written in hieratic writing.
The force of the Shadows could be felt everywhere at the time.
(Japanese The text, according to Malik, can only be viewed in the light of Ra.) Mai comes to the realization that Marik was well aware that she would not be able to utilize the card.
(Japanese Malik informs Mai that if she want to utilize the card, she must first answer the mystery contained inside the hieratic inscription.
Malik was never concerned about Mai stealing his card, according to Japanese journalist Jounouchi.) Yugi believes Marik had this planned all along!
If Mai is unable to read the wording on the card, she will not be able to utilize it, and Marik will be able to repeat the words and seize ownership of the card on his turn, according to Kaiba, who believes this is becoming interesting.
(Japanese Kaiba recalls that Mai summoned Ra with the help of three Harpie Ladies.
However, nothing appears to be occurring at this time.
She believes that her trap card, Gravity Bind, will keep her safe.
In reality, any monster of Level 4 or higher is prevented from attacking by this card.
When it is summoned, it returns all magic and trap cards on the field to their owners’ hands, causing Mai’s Gravity Bind to be removed from the field.
Marik dispatches Holding Arms and Holding Legs in order to immediately assault Mai.
(In the United States version, the cuffs are concealed as they seize Mai’s arms and legs.) In addition, Mai’s skirt has been lengthened.) It should be noted that this view of Holding Legs melting into the stone is taken from the US version.
What type of hologram is this, exactly?
The Holding Arms and Legs do direct damage to Mai’s life points, bringing her score down to 800 points.
Marik informs Mai that she is completely alone.
Marik does not want Yugi meddling with her plans.
(Japanese In the midst of the ceremony of Dark Offerings, Malik informs Yugi that the ritual has begun.
(This scene, in which Malik crosses his arms as he begins the chant, was deleted from the US theatrical release.) The sphere begins to light, and then it begins to open up.
Yugi and Kaiba are both taken aback when the beast, which has an attack of 5400 points, towering above the duelingplatform and threatens them.
(Japanese Yugi believes Mai will perish.
However, he claims that he is only having some fun with it.
(Japanese Malik informs Yugi he’lluse this lady as a Dark Offering, and deepen Yugi’s hate.) Since his family insisted that he carry the ancient texts on his back, he has been waiting for this day ever since he was cursed to carry the secret of the Pharaoh’s power until his return.
With the exception of him, his family has been waiting for the Pharaoh’s return in vain for generations.
He’ll rise to the position of Pharaoh himself!
He was driven to self-destruction by the anguish and suffering he had endured at the hands of his father.
(Yami Malik claims that he intended to dominate Malik, but that something prevented him from accomplishing his goal.) Only until Malik is severely enraged will he be able to take control.
Now that Rishid has been defeated, Yami Malik is in command of the body.) Yugi believes that he must find out the secret engraved on Marik’s back in order to save the world.
Marik, on the other hand, believes that the lunacy has just just begun.
Is it because of the God cards, or is it something else?
His delight is derived from the act of destructing.
Joey rushes up to Roland and begs him to call a halt to the combat.
The Winged Dragon of Ra is summoned by Marik and launched into battle.
Mai can’t seem to find him, and she’s puzzled as to who he may be.
She looks away as he holds her face in his hands, imploring with her to recall him.
He’ll always be there for her, no matter what the situation is.
He had a dream that he was back at school, and he was unable to stand on his own, but all of his friends—including her—helped him.
She’s a good buddy of his.
Even though Marik is enraged that Joey was able to break Mai’s mental control, it doesn’t matter since the Winged Dragon of Ra would destroy them both anyway.
Joey is told to go by Mai, but he would not leave without her.
Marik declares that all three of them are finished, and Yugi falls to the ground.
After ordering Yugi to wake up, Joey kneels at his side as the stone vanishes and Mai drops to the platform below them both.
When Japanese Malik takes the dagger out of the Millennium Rod, he declares, “I will take care of Yugi.”) Joey leaps to his feet to defend him.
Joey, on the other hand, deserves to be given a lesson.
Marik used the Millennium Rod to seize control of Mai’s consciousness.
She screams for them, but they are unable to hear her.
When the sand covers Mai, Malik, a Japanese character, informs her that she will perish.
He removes the EgyptianGod card from the narrow part of the hourglass, where it has been trapping the sands in the upper half, and the sand begins to trickle down onto her from the top of the glass.
Mai falls to the ground on the dueling platform.
When Mai is lying down on her back, her eyes are closed in the United States version of the film.
(Japanese Malik suggests to Jounouchi that if he beats him, he might be able to get Mai back.
Jounouchi would be plunged into darkness, according to Malik.) Mariko chuckles to himself as he walks away, believing that he can feel his strength growing with each thought he sends to the Shadow Realm.
Joey expresses his regrets to Mai and vows to help her.
Kaiba receives a phone call from Mokuba, who is holding a computer screen with an image of the Ra card shown on it.
Kaiba compliments him on his work and informs him that he must learn all of the mysteries of the card before ordering the gang to clean the dueling platform in preparation for the next bout.
(In Japanese, Kaiba commands that the gate be opened and the losers be let go.) Yugi begins to argue, but Kaibawon seems unaffected by his words. It’s Kaiba’s time to face off in a duel. [UpcomingEpisode]
ancient chant – Judgment of the Pharaoh
———————————————— Toss 1 “The Winged Dragon of Ra” from your Deck or GY into your hand, and if you do, you will be able to Tribute Summon 1 monster in addition to your normal Summon/Set this round during your Main Phase. It’s possible to obtain this effect just once every turn. In order to banish this card from your GY, resolve this effect first. If you Tribute Summon “The Winged Dragon of Ra” during your turn after resolving this effect, its original ATK/DEF become the combined original ATK/DEF of the monsters that were Tributed during its Tribute Summon.
———————————————— Duelist Pack: Duelists of Gloom is where you may find it right now (DP24-JP004) With an array of effects that span from mass removal to a potential OTK, “The Winged Dragon of Ra” was presented as the most terrible Egyptian God of the trio, and he was the most terrifying of the three.
On the plus side, “Ra” obtained the multiple forms it can take in order to build a strategy that involves cycling among them repeatedly throughout a Duel, with “The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode” in particular being a popular weapon for paying homage to an opponent’s monsters in professional tournaments.
In addition to having a wide range of powers, “Ancient Chant” is a Spell Card that is more than capable of summoning the god “Ra” on its own.
As a result of this card’s assistance from the Graveyard, it is able to mimic one of the effects of “Ra” from the manga and anime, whereby it banishes itself in response to the Tribute Summon of “Ra,” it is able to stack the original ATK and DEF of the tributed monsters.
Because, as previously stated, “Ra” has essentially become an archetype that not only covers its arrival but also grants the greatest number of effects possible, we can obtain “Ancient Chant” by simply sending “Guardian Slime” to the Graveyard, and thus immediately arrange the field surrounding its effects.
Many current Decks have no problem sparing their Normal Summon as they bring materials to tribute, which allows the archetype to use their most powerful shortcuts with little to no effort right from the first turn, such as “Ra’s Disciple,” which summons all of its copies upon its own arrival, and “Reactor Slime,” which brings along two tokens that are exclusive to the summoning of the Egyptian Gods.
Although we have the opportunity for “Ra” to steal stats from tributed monsters through the use of “Ancient Chant,” it may be beneficial to invest in certain summons rather than spending all of our Life Points on a stat boost, particularly “Egyptian God Slime,” which can act as three tributes and has traits that are strong enough for “Ra” to steal.
When compared to its original version in the series, “The Winged Dragon of Ra” has become a monster that is heavily reliant on others in order to achieve the same results.
Ancient Chant not only searches for and retrieves “Ra” from the Graveyard, but also prepares itself for an additional summon given by this Spell Card, therefore solving the monster’s most serious problem and preparing it for an additional summon offered by this Spell Card.
While its searching effect is as effective as any other card in the game, the rest of the abilities provided by “Ancient Chant” rely on other cards and timing to function properly, with the extra summon only becoming active once we have obtained the necessary materials, and the card’s Graveyard effect being delayed by the card’s clauses.
A++ is my own rating.
Provides us with an extra Normal Summon that may be used towards a Tribute Summon+.
It is possible to banish “Ra” from the Graveyard in order for it to stack the stats of the monsters used in its Tribute Summon on itself– When we have adequate resources, we will employ its summoning assistance, which is dependent on time.

King ofLullabyHello Pojo Fans,Ancient Chant is the card The Winged Dragon of Ra needed, period.Guardian Slime searches this card. With Chant you search your Winged Dragon of Ra and immediately get to play it if you have the monsters for it. That alone makes it a great card for a focused Ra deck, but then you get the second effect tacked on. Ra in the real world doesn’t get that ATK/DEF boost it gets in the show, and you won’t always want to pay down to 100LP. Remove to boost the ATK/DEF permanently raises Ra’s consistency and playability to the level of the other Divine-Beasts. Even smaller ATK/DEF monsters are worth it, any ATK/DEF is better than 0/0. You’ll always go after the Ra in your deck, but the added benefit of being able to pull back from your grave ensures you’ll always have a Ra to choose from.Simple card for a tough card at times to play and improves on the card with a second effect.Advanced-4/5Art-4/5Until Next TimeKingofLullaby
Crunch$GI’d do the chant here, but I don’t remember it by heart and it’s pretty long, so here’s Ancient Chant.Ancient Chant is a Normal Spell that adds The Winged Dragon of Ra from your Deck or graveyard to your hand and then that turn would let you Tribute Summon a monster in addition to your Normal Summon or Set if you wanted. At least it helps get to Ra and gives you the opportunity to summon it, I just wish it searched more than the original Ra. Having a searcher for Sphere Mode could of been really nice, but it is what it is. You can banish this card from the graveyard to have a The Winged Dragon of Ra you Tribute Summon this turn have its original ATK/DEF become the combined original ATK/DEF of the monsters tributed to summon it, which is something we would of loved on Ra itself like the anime, but at least we can finally do that. You can only activate 1 Ancient Chant per turn, but you should only need 1 Ra a turn anyways really, so that’s fine. The card does what it needs to do for Ra, get you to the Ra and helps you summon it with some actual stats without you having to pay LP, it’s the most important Ra card easy.Advanced Rating: 3.5/5Art: 5/5
Alex SearcyAncient Chant does what you’d expect; assisting in bringing Ra to the Field, just not very well. This is a Normal Magic, whose first effect lets you add Ra from your Deck or Graveyard to your Hand.Nice way to fetch Ra immediately and you are then awarded the ability to Tribute an extra Monster during your Main Phase (additionally to your Normal Summon or Set).So you certainly SHOULD be Summoning Ra to the Field this turn.If you Tribute for Ra, and remove this card from your Grave from play, Ra’s attack and defense become the combined atk/def of said Monsters used for Tribute Summon.Which does open potentially a Field for a Ra with an insane amount of attack.I suppose that could open the door for some OTK but that might be stretching. The problem with attack is, no matter how high, there’s no protection here, so it still falls prey to any Magic/Trap/Monster effect as it goes to the Graveyard.Rating:2/5Art:4/5The art does represent well here.Ra is emerging from its sphere.
